Peter and Geri Skirkanich Associate Professor of Innovation at Penn Engineering, and Shahab Chizari, PhD, former PhD researcher in the Jiang Lab, have engineered T cells with the potential to treat neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Alzheimer’s disease.
By targeting disease-specific proteins, this antigen-specific immunotherapy aims to selectively eliminate damaged cells, potentially offering a more precise and effective treatment approach.
