QED (from the Latin Quod Erat Demonstrandum – “that which is demonstrated”) invites academic researchers developing medical and life science technology with high commercial potential to apply for the annual competition.
The Science Center’s QED program provides key resources to facilitate the commercial development of early-stage technologies, including customized business mentorship, preparation of a funding plan, exposure to investors and industry representatives, and access to regulatory and legal specialists.
At the completion of the program, up to three selected academic research teams will be awarded one-year support of up to $200,000 each. Funding for each awarded project is contributed equally by the Science Center and the researcher’s home institution.
Healthcare and Life Sciences Areas of Interest
The technologies of interest to our program may include but are not limited to:
- Therapeutics
- Medical Devices
- In Vitro Diagnostics
- Biomaterials
- Vaccines
- Other processes and products created to solve a health problem and improve quality of life.
Technologies can be at any stage of development (ideation, pre-clinical, or clinical), but should have applied for patent protection, via PCI.
