The Center for Innovation and Precision Denistry (CiPD) is bridging Penn Dental Medicine and Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences with cutting-edge research and training to accelerate the development of new solutions and devices to address unmet needs in oral health, while also recruiting the next generation of leaders in these fields.
Oral diseases affect 3.9 billion people worldwide, ranging from tooth decay and gum diseases to life threatening cancers. CiPD will advance the knowledge about how to diagnose diseases earlier, prevent and treat them more effectively.
From developing new biomedical tools, to finding precise means to study and prevent oral-craniofacial disorders, the Center will foster innovation in dental medicine, engineering and the applied sciences through research, training, and entrepreneurship.
The Center is led by PCI 2020 Emerging Inventor of the Year Michel Koo, PhD, of Penn Dental, and Kathleen Stebe, PhD, of Penn Engineering.
