One example bringing these solutions to fruition is a class of soft robotic grippers that can react almost instantly upon touching an object. Invented by Shu Yang, PhD, the Joseph Bordogna Professor at Penn Engineering, this technology has the potential to help robots safely grab objects ranging from fragile fruit to hard materials in factories, hospitals, and warehouses.
