Penn’s Chief Innovation Officer John Swartley Interviewed by BioBuzz @ Philly Builds Bio+ Symposium and nominated for the Life Science Cares Leader of the Year Award 

John Swartley, PhD, MBA, Penn’s Chief Innovation Officer, was interviewed by BioBuzz’s CEO, Chris Frew at the Philly Builds Bio 3rd Annual Symposium for Life Science Innovation and Development on Tuesday, October 1. 

In the interview, Dr. Swartley talks about how he leads and supports innovation initiatives across Penn and his career in technology transfer. 

In his prior role as Associate Vice Provost for Research and Managing Director of the Penn Center for Innovation (PCI), Dr. Swartley helped to create and grow the program over the last decade to focus increased resources towards new product development, corporate partnerships, technology licensing and new venture creation based on faculty expertise and discoveries made at Penn.   

Over the course of his career, Dr. Swartley has facilitated thousands of commercialization and research partnership agreements that have collectively generated over five billion dollars in licensing income and sponsored research funding, as well as participating in the formation and oversight of hundreds of university spin-out companies that have collectively raised several billion dollars of investment capital. Watch the full interview here
