Jacob Gardner, PhD, Assistant Professor of Computer and Information Science at Penn Engineering, is applying AI and machine learning to accelerate scientific research across multiple disciplines, including new drug discovery.
In an interview with Penn Today, Gardner explained his vision for creating AI-powered tools, like a “self-driving lab,” that can automate the initial stages of drug discovery by generating, synthesizing, and testing molecular structures.
Gardner, who moderated PCI’s AI panel during Philly Tech Week earlier this year, aims to employ AI to help scientists work faster, more effectively and with new insight. Read more here.
