At a cross-disciplinary gathering at Amy Gutmann Hall, the Penn community celebrated the launch of the Penn AI Initiative with a panel discussing AI research at Penn. Penn Provost John L. Jackson Jr., PhD, and President J. Larry Jameson, MD, PhD, highlighted AI’s societal impact, including its benefits and consequences, and discussed Penn’s unique role in advancing research that addresses both the technological and ethical dimensions of AI.
Marylyn Ritchie, PhD, Edward Rose and Elizabeth Kirk Rose Professor at Penn Medicine served as an expert panelist during the AI discussion. Ritchie shared her insights on AI applications in healthcare, including how AI tools can be used to enhance interactions between clinicians and their patients. Dr. Ritchie also participated as a panelist at PCI’s Innovation @ Penn: Real World Implementation of AI and Healthcare event in parallel with the 2025 J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference,
