Equimeter Wins $10,000 2023 Penn Y-Prize

The 2023 Y-Prize winner was Equimeter, a team of Penn students who proposed a commercial application for a physics-informed neural network to improve pulse oximetry in patients with darker skin.

The Equimeter team consisted of three Penn undergraduates from the Vagelos Life Sciences Management program at Wharton: Advait Thaploo, Ujjayi Pamidigantam, and Parthiv Patel.

The annual Y-Prize competition, which received technical support from PCI, is a contest where members of the Penn community compete to propose the best applications for an emerging technology. The winner receives a $10,000 cash award to help turn their idea into a reality. We wish Equimeter the best of luck in this exciting new venture.
