Equimeter Wins 2023 Y-Prize for New Technology that Improves Pulse Oximetry Readings in Patients with Darker Skin

Congratulations to the 2023 Y-Prize winner Equimeter, a team of undergrads who proposed a commercial application for Penn’s physics-informed neural network to improve pulse oximetry in patients with darker skin.

The Equimeter team consisted of undergraduates Ujjayi Pamidigantam (Vagelos LSM), Parthiv Patel (Vagelos LSM), and Advait T. (Vagelos LSM).

The Y-Prize competition is a contest where members of the Penn community compete to propose the best applications for an emerging technology. The winner receives $10,000 to turn their idea into a reality. We wish Equimeter the best of luck in this exciting new venture.
