GRASP Lab’s New “Treehouse” Suite Officially Opens In Lab Building

In August 2023, the GRASP (General Robotics, Automation, Sensing, & Perception) Lab’s Treehouse officially opened at Pennovation Works, with a New Student Orientation event for incoming Penn Engineering students enrolled in its master’s degree in Robotics (ROBO), followed by the grand opening celebration. The Treehouse, which marks GRASP’s third official location within the Pennovation Works ecosystem, contains lab space and benches, work desks, faculty office space, a student/collaborator conference room and a multi-purpose room for hosting GRASP-related events. Numerous Penn spinout companies have emerged from the GRASP Lab (see here), including Recupero Robotics, founded by Michelle Johnson, PhD, Associate Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Penn Medicine, and Exyn Technologies, founded by Vijay Kumar, PhD, the Nemirovsky Family Dean of Penn Engineering.
