Penn Engineering’s newly formed ASSET (AI-enabled Systems: Safety, Explainablity and Trustworthiness) Center, part of Penn Engineering’s Innovation in Data Engineering and Science (IDEAS) Initiative, aims to act as a catalyst at Penn for new collaborations among groups researching machine learning, programming languages, natural language processing, robotics, and human-computer interaction within Penn Engineering and with other researchers throughout the University.
Rajeev Alur, Zisman Family Professor in the Department of Computer and Information Science, serves as ASSET’s inaugural director. PCI is working to help Professor Alur develop an industry partnership model, including a program for corporate affiliates of the center, to enable strong collaborative ties that support commercialization of new ideas emerging from the center.
