Investment Funds available for Penn Startups

Penn has three investment funds available for early stage startups affiliated with the University:

The StartUP Fund

The StartUP Fund provides vital seed capital investment to qualifying start-up companies founded by Penn researchers and based on innovations and promising ideas created at the University. The program is funded by the University and managed by the Office of the Chief Innovation Officer, is open to all technology sectors, and is available to applicants across all twelve of Penn’s schools.

PxB Fund

The Penn-BioNTech Innovative Therapeutics Seed Fund (PxB Fund) is a $50 million dedicated venture capital fund focused on early-stage life science companies originating from Penn.  It was formed through a partnership between Penn, BioNTech SE (“BioNTech”), and OUP (Osage University Partners).

Penn Medicine Co-Investment Program

The Penn Medicine Co-Investment Program assists faculty entrepreneurs as they move along the path to venture creation and permanent financing through active support and early stage targeted co-investments focused on cell therapy, gene therapy, mRNA, lipid nanoparticles, and connected health technologies.
