Three Penn I-Corps Teams Participated in State-wide Pitch Event 

Three Penn I-Corps teams participated in the SmartTech Tournament on April 10 and 11, 2025 as part of the Invent Penn State Venture & IP Conference. The event gave Pennsylvania-based startups an opportunity to pitch their technologies, connect with investors and receive expert feedback. The three Penn teams were: 

Hydropore, co-founded by Eric Detsi, PhD, Associate Professor in Penn Engineering and Alexander Ng Corsi, PhD, former graduate student, is developing a closed-loop zinc-based hydrogen battery that produces clean, off-grid hydrogen without energy input. 

OneFiltr, co-founded by Penn Engineering’s Mark Allen, PhD, the Alfred Fitler Moore Professor, Firooz Aflatouni, PhD, Professor of Electrical and Systems Engineering, Troy Olsson, PhD, Associate Professor of Electrical and Systems Engineering, and Xingyu Du, PhD student in Electrical and Systems Engineering, is developing tunable alternatives to traditional filters.  

Smart Dosimetry, co-founded by Timothy Zhu, PhD, Professor of Radiation Oncology at Penn Medicine, is enabling precision in light-based cancer therapies through real-time light dosage monitoring.
