Penn Engineering’s Boon Thau Loo, PhD, Senior Associate Dean for Education and Global Initiatives, was featured in Technical.ly Philly for his deep personal experiences with academic entrepreneurship. Dr. Loo has been a faculty member at Penn for the past fifteen years and during that time has co-founded two successful startups that achieved successful exits through M&A. His first company, Netsil (f/k/a Gencore Systems), focused on developing cloud application monitoring tools for managing microservices, and his second company, Termaxia, specialized in big data storage solutions.
