Avisi Technologies announced on December 2 that it had treated its first patient in a clinical trial to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of its novel VisiPlate® glaucoma treatment device. The company was founded based on technology invented by Igor Bargatin, PhD, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at Penn Engineering, and is a Penn I-Corps graduate and President’s Innovation Prize winner.
