Cogwear, a medical device spinout co-founded by Michael Platt, PhD, the James S. Riepe University Professor, Professor of Neuroscience, Professor of Psychology, and Professor of Marketing in Penn Medicine, Penn Arts and Sciences and Wharton, was listed as one of PHL Inno’s Startups to Watch. PHL Inno, the innovation section of the Philadelphia Business Journal, developed its annual Startups to Watch list to recognize the top ten promising young companies in the Philadelphia region.
Cogwear’s wearable device gives insights into brain functions, providing high-fidelity brain measurements in real-time. Cogwear plans to develop integrated device algorithms to detect Alzheimer’s disease or other mental health conditions like anxiety. The company is also collaborating with healthcare companies to evaluate its device for measuring the impacts of concussions.
