Good Morning America features story of Emily Whitehead, the first pediatric patient to receive CAR T cell therapy

Good Morning America featured the story of Emily Whitehead, the first pediatric patient to receive Penn-invented CAR T cell therapy, in a segment about the 15-year anniversary of Stand Up to Cancer.

After receiving CAR T-cell treatment for leukemia in 2012, Emily is now 11 years cancer free, and is heading off to college this fall. She will be entering Penn’s class of 2027.
