PCI and the Philadelphia Alliance for Capital and Technologies (PACT) jointly presented an event called “AI Nexus: Shaping Tomorrow’s Intelligence” at the CIC in University City during Philly Tech Week on May 8, 2024.
Jacob Gardner, PhD, Assistant Professor in Computer and Information Science at Penn Engineering, kicked off the event with a presentation on his research on AI and machine learning. Dr. Gardner then led a discussion with a panel of experts who work at the intersection of AI and health technology, which included Mingyao Li, PhD, Professor of Biostatistics in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at Penn Medicine, and Walter Witschey, PhD, Associate Professor of Radiology at Penn Medicine, and Sasha Schrode, CEO of Medical Devices at Maverix Medical, Partner at Robin Hood Ventures and advisory board member at Penn Health-Tech. The panelists talked about the advantages and challenges of using AI in the healthcare sector and suggested a variety of future applications to improve patient outcomes.
