Penn Dental Medicine  and Penn Engineering Faculty Invent Nanorobotic system That Offers new options for targeting fungal infections

A team of researchers jointly led by Hyun (Michel) Koo, a professor in the Department of Orthodontics and in the divisions of Pediatric Dentistry and Community Oral Health and co-founder of the Center for Innovation & Precision Dentistry at Penn Dental Medicine, and Edward Steager, a research investigator in Penn Engineering’s General Robotics, Automation, Sensing & Perception Laboratory, have developed a new way to accurately target and quickly destroy fungal cells in the mouth by using nanorobots guided by magnets. This technology’s precise targeting and rapid action show future potential for treating other types of stubborn infections as well. Read the full story here.
