After studying train derailment incidents in East Palestine, Ohio, and India, Tejas Agarwal founded Sahay AI, a startup focused on transforming railway inspections through innovative AI-powered solutions. The company’s goal is to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability across railway systems on a global scale. Sahay AI’s device, LARR-E, uses sensors to automatically gather data on train tracks, providing more accurate and detailed information than traditional visual inspections.
Sahay AI won the Pennovation Works accelerator competition over the summer and secured a $7,000 cash prize along with additional in-kind support for further development. Agarwal, who received a Masters in Electrical and Systems Engineering at Penn, is now pursuing contracts with public transit agencies and private freight lines to bring the product to market.
