On July 26th, 2023, the Pennovation Accelerator held their sixth annual Pitch Day at the Pennovation Center. Each of the nine Philadelphia-based cohort companies presented a 5-minute pitch to a live audience, followed by questions and feedback from a panel of judges.
Prior to Pitch Day, the cohort participated in six weeks of Pennovation Accelerator programming to help develop their business strategies and further cultivate their potential user networks. Three I-Corps graduates participated in the Accelerator, including Blossom, a new stroke therapy tool that incorporates play and imagination, Orble, which is focused on creating a fully “automated” boba beverage-dispensing machine, and Sonora, which is developing a beanie to improve the developmental outcomes of NICU patients.
The overall winner of Pitch Day was Medicratic, a startup leveraging data and machine learning to bring speed, equity, and holistic review to medical education and admissions. The “Best Pitch” winner was Pocket Scribe, a company developing an AI-powered dictation tool for physicians to help improve workflow and reduce stress.
